Tawana’s principal project is the Bald Hill Lithium and Tantalum Mine. Tawana and Alliance Mineral Assets Limited (Singapore Exchange Listed) each have an equal 50:50 ownership of the Bald Hill Project. The project is located 50km south east of Kambalda in the Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia. The Project comprises four mining leases, one mining lease application, and 20 other licenses totalling 774km sq

Due to business growth in WA we are currently recruiting for a Water & Waste Management Technician to work on an 2/1 FIFO roster. The Water & Waste Management Technician is responsible for testing and monitoring water supplies and making certain water is safe. A variety of technical duties, for example inspecting, sampling, monitoring, and testing, and work with both groundwater and surface water sources.

Your main duties and responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Daily supervision, inspection and management of landfill facility, refuelling of water supply infrastructure, inspections, meter readings, collection and segregation of materials, small scale construction and assemble tasks, data collection.
  • Monitor site water supplies, operation and maintenance of potable water treatment plant.
  • Troubleshoot pump and piping solutions on site and perform routine maintenance
  • Construct, monitor and maintain de-watering equipment (wells, pipelines, meters and pressure gauges)
  • Install bore pump systems and bypasses
  • Make repairs to water pipe lines (polyweld if required)
  • Fuel and service pumping equipment
  • Ensures federal and state water quality regulations are met
  • Streamline water management processes and identify improvement opportunities with regards to water supply and water management infrastructure
  • Ensure your own safety and health at work and that of your work mates

Essential selection criteria and experience required:

  • A proven commitment to the safety and well-being of the workforce;
  • Previous experience in a similar site position;
  • Experience in the servicing and / or operation of water and / or wastewater infrastructure;
  • Incumbents will have basic mechanical aptitude, likely experienced with pumps and flows. Incumbents will have the ability to
  • Operate various equipment such as boom truck, forklift and loaders and may be experienced with well service work over rigs and / or pipeline construction and welding skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft software required and ability to read and understand work orders.

We are currently looking for Expressions of Interest for a Mining Engineer role. This position would be working on an 8/6 FIFO roster. The Mining Engineer is primarily responsible for all daily and weekly production requirements with an emphasis on Drill and Blast review and optimisation. In addition, this role will provide engineering support for the other members of the operational team as well as being instrumental in the preparation and development of the short/medium term plan, including reporting functions as necessary.

Your main duties and responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Working closely with the technical team and contractor drill and blast engineers, design and review blast masters in line with the mining schedule.
  • Working with all stakeholders, review individual blast designs submitted by the contractor to ensure minimum ore dilution, whilst considering production and costs.
  • Preparation of the weekly plan and measurement of compliance to the plan.
  • Preparation of the 36-hour schedule including the validation and analysis of data as supplied by the mining contractor for the previous 24 hours.
  • Collate and provide daily and weekly reports as required
  • Develop new and evolve existing engineering standards to meet best practice
  • Provide engineering technical support to the operation
  • Provide a high focus on continuous improvement and cost saving initiatives
  • Maintain Statutory compliance
  • Ensure your own safety and health at work and that of your work mates

Essential selection criteria and experience required:

  • Degree in Mine Engineering
  • WA Quarry Managers ticket
  • Well-developed practical experience in open pit mining (5+years)
  • Strong technical and practical skills in hard rock drill & blast (5+years)
  • Possess a clear understanding of contracted mining operations
  • Possess a practical understanding of risk assessment
  • Competent in the use of mining software, ideally Surpac
  • Excellent MS Office skills; Excel and Word
  • Ability to work autonomously with well-developed time management skills
  • Valid Drivers Licence
