Tawana Resources NL is a resources focused ASX and JSE-listed Company located in Perth, Western Australia. Tawana’s principal project is the Bald Hill Lithium and Tantalum Mine. Tawana and Singapore Exchange-listed Alliance Mineral Assets Limited have a 50:50 ownership of the Project. The project is located 50km south east of Kambalda in the Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia. Lithium concentrate production commenced at Bald Hill in March 2018.

Due to the business growth in WA we are currently recruiting for a Site HSE Manager to work on an 22/13 roster. This role is responsible for driving site safety behaviours by the development, implementation and maintenance of a safe work environment by applying OHS skills and knowledge of the OHS evidence base to develop, implement and evaluate OHS strategy and programs.


Your main duties and responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Develop strategies in conjunction with the Corporate HSE Manager to prevent and minimise workplace fatality, injury, disease and ill health
  • Coordinate and manage the audit program for divisional operations and ensure that identified issues are integrated into the business and site OHS plans
  • Establish and implement procedures for safety/risk management and emergencies
  • Work with Department Managers in the business’ OHS activities and operations are conducted in compliance with applicable laws, regulations and company code
  • Interpret trends and provide appropriate written and oral reports to senior managers
  • Establish priorities for action within the Site wide risk profile taking account of criticality of risk
  • Ensure the training needs of the departments are met
  • Work with Department Managers to support organisational change to achieve positive safety culture, OHS objectives and implementation strategy
  • Generate new and varied solutions to problems to improve existing work practices and procedures
  • Manage the Site OHS budget
  • Engage with site management teams to ensure that OHS roles, responsibilities and expectations are understood by all
  • Support and coach departmental managers and site-based OHS and training staff


Essential selection criteria and experience required:

  • 10+ years’ experience in similar role within Mining is preferred
  • Post Graduate qualifications
  • In-depth knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Regulations within the Mining industry
  • Understand OHS processes and requirements with an emphasis on management systems
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication and literacy skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in high stress environments
  • Ability to work to deadlines; and
  • Strong time and project management skills
